SAU Hunter Team finishes second, maintains regional lead

The St. Andrews University Hunter Seat Team finished second at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) show held at Duke on Sunday.

East Carolina University won with 41 points under the coaching of St. Andrews graduate Allie McGraw. St. Andrews earned 38 points, allowing the team to maintain a regional lead of 21 points over second place ECU.

Kim Graves earned High Point Rider for the competition Sunday thanks to her top finishes in Open Flat A and Open Fences B.

"This is my first time being high-point rider as an individual," said Graves. "I have wanted to earn that title ever since I started in IHSA. I told myself today that I was going to do it. I would like to dedicate this to my family and great teammates. Without their support and encouragement this would not have happened."

Also finishing first were Katie Hansen in Open Flat B, Cami Glaff in Novice Flat A, Park Hoey in Novice Flat B, and Kali Cram in Intermediate Flat.

Rae Rucker was second in Walk/Trot.

Third place finishes were contributed by Sami Cram in Intermediate Fences, Abi Skillman in Novice Fences, Brandon Hill in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, Regi Barasch in Intermediate Flat, Hansen in Open Fences A, and Laura Allen in Novice Flat.

Jameson Crandall was fourth in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter as was Alexandra Fullerton in Novice Fences.

The Hunter Seat Team will host an IHSA competition Saturday at the Suzanne Mott Dansby Areana of the St. Andrews Equestrian Center. The event is free and open to the public.
