Megan Parlow  

Megan Parlow
Director of the Center for Academic Success

Megan Parlow joined the Center for Academic Success in 2013. She holds a BFA from the University of West Georgia and a MA from the University of Florida. With a background in teaching students of all age groups, Megan has worked in various settings such as public schools, museums, hospitals, and the college classroom. She also spent two years teaching art at the John F. Kennedy Schule in Berlin, Germany.

Although art has always been a passion, Megan enjoys avenues of learning and creating in many formats. She considers herself to be a lifelong learner, and hopes to instill a similar inquiry and drive in students at St. Andrews University. Megan works with the mentors at the Center, the faculty, and other staff members to offer academic support for each individual. She recognizes that college is not the grand finale of gaining knowledge, but an excellent time to develop the skills and interests of the whole person. As a former college student-athlete, she is well-versed in time management techniques and understands the dual challenges and benefits of extra-curricular activities.

Megan is married to St. Andrews Women’s Soccer Coach, Rick Parlow. The couple resides with their one-year old son, Isaac, in Laurinburg.


Mike Chase  

Michael "Mike" S. Chase
Assistant to the Director of the Center for Academic Success

A graduate of Louisiana State University, he joined the Center for Academic Success in the fall of 2012.  He holds a BS in Business Administration and Economics.  He served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He owned and operated an insurance agency before moving to North Carolina. 

On moving to Gastonia, NC, he became a lateral entry Business Education teacher and served in that capacity until moving to Laurinburg in 2005. Chase became a volunteer in the public school system working with the drop outs and discipline-problem students.

As the Assistant to the Director, he works closely with the director to provide academic support through face to face meetings with the students.  His position evolves into being not only academic support but also another ear for the student.

His wife, Susan, holds a Doctorate in School Administration and serves as an adjunct professor at Wingate University and a Technology Support Coach at the Friday Institute at North Carolina State University.  They have five grown sons and two grandchildren.  Mike, Susan and their dog, Annie, live in Laurinburg.

Teresa Reynolds  

Teresa M. Reynolds, Ed.D.
Disability Services Program Coordinator
Assistant Professor of Education

Dr. Teresa M. Reynolds serves St Andrews as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Elementary Education and as Coordinator of the Office of Disability Services Program.

Teresa received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance at Randolph Macon Woman’s College, Lynchburg VA, and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Administration from Fayetteville State University Fayetteville, NC. She received her Educational Doctorate from Fayetteville State University with a focus on Leadership and a concentration in Special Education. She has 20 years of public school experience with a wide range of experiences at both the classroom level and the administrative level.

Teresa is a member of several professional educational organizations and has a published children’s book. She also has publications in national and international professional journals along with a being a presenter at several national and regional conferences with a focus on teacher education, educational pedagogy and student diversity issues.


Kipper Wallace

Kipper Wallace - Mentor

Kipper Wallace first joined the Center for Academic Success staff in 2001. A graduate of Sandhills Community College, Kip's computer skills have proved invaluable to the CAS staff. His hobbies include reading, writing, music and "learning in general." He enjoys seeing students wanting to succeed and being able to share the tools to help them do it. Kipper has a strong background in grammar and composition which proves to be very helpful in his work with students.



John Gay - Mentor

John Gay has been working in the Center for Academic Success since 2008. He is a graduate of Presbyterian Junior College and St. Andrews. John is the resident expert in teaching and assisting students with Kurzweil operation. He enjoys watching students grow and improve. John does very well in his work with students on their time management skills while also reinforcing a student's self-confidence.


Christy McPartlin Resource Center Mentor  


Christy McPartlin - Mentor


A native of Summerville, South Carolina, Christy McPartlin graduated with Honors from Summerville High School in 2004.  Prior to earning her bachelor’s degree, she attended Aiken Technical College from 2004-2006.  While in Aiken, McPartlin attained an Associates of Science degree, as well as an Associates of Arts degree.  She was also named a two-time NFCA Scholar Athlete and graduated with Honors.


After graduating from the two year institution, McPartlin finished her Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from Charleston Southern University in 2008.  While at CSU, she was named to the institution’s Dean’s List in recognition of her academic achievements and selected to the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociological Honor Society in 2008.


Compelled to continue her education, McPartlin accepted a Graduate Assistant position at West Texas A & M in Amarillo, Texas in 2010.  She completed her Masters of Arts in Criminal Justice and a minor in Political Science in May of 2012.


McPartlin is now in her second year at St. Andrews University, serving as both the Associate Head Softball Coach and as an Academic Mentor in the Center for Academic Success.  Her main responsibilities in the CAS consist of overseeing the Student-Athlete Study Hall Program and academic mentoring for student-athletes.


Wini Gay  

Wini Gay - Office Manager

Wini has worked at St. Andrews since 1984. The Office Manager for the Health and Wellness Center as well as the Center for Academic Success. Wini welcomes all with a smile as they make their way through the automatic door into the office suite of Pate Hall. Wini has become the voice of St. Andrews as the switchboard operator. She also coordinates and disseminates the information packages for all new students.
